If you did not attend the March general meeting, our guest speaker was Barclay Moore,barclaymoore.com. A custom furniture maker from the Lake Tahoe area. It was a very informative presentation. He is truly a master furniture maker.
Our guest speakers for April will be Todd and Megan Smith the owners of Tahoe Fluid Art, tahoefluidart.com. They make beautiful works of art using epoxy over wood. There will be a demo at the April general meeting, so if you’re interested in epoxy pours than you won’t want to miss this presentation.
We are scheduled to participate in the Earth Day celebration April 22nd. Please let John H. know if you’re interested in joining the fun. We are looking for members to make bird, bee, bat & butterfly houses to sell at the event. This will benefit the club.
Our Scroll saw Sig has started up again and has been successful. Contact Gene Welch or sign up online for a class.
Our VA woodworking outpatient classes are going on each month and have been very rewarding both for the students and our volunteers. Thank you Mary, and the club mentors, for helping to make this program successful.
Earlier in March, John H. and myself took a road trip to Albany Oregon to enjoy a 3-day wood turning symposium. This was a first for me and I found it very educational and informative. I’m looking forward to AAW ‘s (American Association of Woodturners) big Symposium in Portland May of 2024. If we have 10 or more members going, we can get a discount on tickets so keep this in mind for next year.
Thank you all for helping to make this a great organization. Now let’s make sawdust.
